As a recent college graduate entering as a Project Engineer, you would begin a five-year leadership development program that will enhance and further develop your engineering skills to encompass construction problem solving and most importantly, how to handle the business of running a profitable project.

As a new Field Engineer at Encore you would begin a similar five-year leadership development program. However, this program concentration and primary focus is on the skilled crafts. You would learn mechanical pipefitting/laying, structural concrete and form work construction, heavy equipment operation and millwright skills for mechanical equipment installation. You would also learn how to become a leader and mentor in field management.

Estimating is another choice. Learning the business development side of the industry and combining your engineering skills puts you on yet another leadership development path. Working in a fast paced deadline environment that is directly responsible to bring in new work can not be underestimated in its importance to the growth and profitability of Encore.

Whatever construction field best suits your career aspirations, you can look to Encore to provide you with both the opportunity and comprehensive hands-on training necessary to become a successful construction management professional.

 

Project Engineer:

You will be assigned to a project site and have an opportunity to learn construction means and methods in a hands-on construction environment. Encore's Leadership Development Program will help you develop the skills required to become an effective Project Manager capable of leading a team and producing quality results. A candidate will have a BS Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management. A construction related co-op/internship experience and a GPA of 3.0+ is desired (however not required).

General Duties/Training includes, but is not limited to:

  • Solving construction engineering problems
  • Process and review shop drawings
  • Detailed drafting
  • Owner/architect/engineer contract and correspondence
  • Procurement of materials
  • Invoice verification and inventory analysis
  • Construction jobsite surveying/layout
  • Updating "As-Built" documents
  • Jobsite safety
  • Labor tracking, auditing and projections
  • Field auditing of completed work
  • Subcontractor coordination
  • Daily and periodic report updates
  • Utilizing Prolog Mgt. Software and Primavera Scheduling System

Field Engineer:

You will be assigned to a project site. Your training starts a five-year hands-on program to develop your skilled trades and leadership skills required to manage multiple crews and priorities. You must be willing to take a hands-on approach to training and exhibit a good mechanical and technical aptitude. This is a hands-on approach to field training in the skilled trades requiring you to perform the technical skills necessary in pipefitting, concrete and mechanical equipment installation. A student graduating with a technical, vocational or bachelor's degree in engineering or any construction related field or apprenticeship program is most desirable. Any construction experience with concrete or mechanical piping is a plus. Candidates must have a strong desire for a field management career in heavy civil construction.

General Duties/Training includes, but is not limited to:

  • Construction methods in heavy vertical concrete forming & placing
  • Carpentry
  • Underground and above ground mechanical piping
  • Mechanical equipment installation
  • Heavy Equipment operations
  • Safety
  • Documentation, planning and job scheduling
  • Quality control and workmanship
  • Cost controls
  • Employee supervision, coaching and development

Estimating:

You will be assigned to our corporate office in Winter Garden, where you will have an opportunity to learn in a hands-on team environment. Our Development Program will help you develop the skills required to become an effective Estimator capable of working independently or leading a team. Your training will include construction terminology, how to perform in a fast-paced deadline oriented environment, how to organize your work and handle multiple projects and tasks while maintaining an accurate and high volume workload. Our candidate will have a BS Degree in Engineering or Construction Management. Plus, a construction estimating related co-op/internship experience and a GPA of 3.0+ is desired (however not required).

General Duties/Training includes, but is not limited to:

  • Detailed quantity take off and pricing for self-performed work
  • General quantity take off and pricing for subcontracted work
  • Gathering and analyzing vendor price quotes
  • Drawing and specification interpretation
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and assist with pre-scheduling activities
  • Coordinating MBE &WBE subcontractors and suppliers
